Singapore Explores Enhanced Collaboration with Swiss-Asian Chamber of Commerce | Nanyang Polytechnic visiting Zurich

Updated: Sep 17

Zurich, September 2024 Nanyang Polytechnic (NYP) from Singapore paid a courtesy visit to Zurich's Swiss-Asian Chamber of Commerce (SACC).

This meeting focused on exploring collaboration on an Executive Program designed to strengthen business ties between Singaporean small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and Swiss companies under the aegis of the Singapore government’s SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG) programme to promote a culture and holistic system of lifelong learning through the pursuit of skills mastery and strengthen the ecosystem of quality education and training in Singapore. The program is proposed to cover multiple blocks. It focuses on a list of sectors, including pre-visit seminars in Singapore covering Swiss business culture and practices and a study tour to Switzerland in Spring 2025.

Mr. Patrick Kriesemer, Vice President, and Mr. Tuck Seng Low, Co-Chairman of the Singapore committee, chaired the SACC delegation. They both guided the discussion on designing a new Executive Program for Singaporean leaders in SMEs by drawing on their experiences as lecturers and workshop leaders for the "Explore Asian Seminar" at NW University of Applied Science- and this since 2015. NYP was represented by Ms. Esther Ho, Deputy Principal for Lifelong Learning and Enterprise Services; Dr. Graham Ng, Deputy Director for Continuing Education and Industry Development; Mr. Poh Boon Kiat, Senior Manager; and Mr. Albert Tan, Senior Specialist.

SwissCham Singapore facilitated the meeting, with support from Dr. Daniel Brunner, Chair of SACC’s Singapore Committee, and Andrea Cheng. This collaboration forms part of the larger SkillsFuture Singapore initiative, which promotes lifelong learning and aims to strengthen Singapore’s global business engagement.

SACC boasts a wide array of experts from various sectors and Asian countries and Europe. SACC's collaborated Universities include the University of Zurich, ETH, St.Gallen University, NW University of Applied Sciences, and Singularity Academy; SACC has a proven track record of networking in Swiss and Asian knowledge exchange.
