SwissCham ASIA Welcomes Bangladesh’s UN Ambassador to Zurich to Advance Switzerland–South Asia Cooperation

High-level meeting at Club Baur au Lac sets a five-pillar agenda spanning technology, education, culture, trade and sustainable development

ZURICH, Switzerland —May 28. 2026 — SwissCham Asia hosted H.E. Ambassador Nahida Sobhan, Permanent Representative of Bangladesh to the United Nations Office in Geneva, and Mr. Sabuj Ahmed, Counsellor at the Permanent Mission of Bangladesh, at the historic Club Baur au Lac in Zurich on 28 May 2026. The meeting marked a significant step toward strengthening economic, cultural and institutional ties between Switzerland and South Asia.

Representing SwissCham Asia were President Dr. iur. Urs Lustenberger and Prof. Dr. ir. Ying Zhang, Chairwoman for the Greater China Region and the Kingdom of Bhutan and President of Singularity Academy. The delegation also conveyed the warm regards of Mr. Saad Fahim, Chair of SwissCham Asia’s Bangladesh Committee, who sent his greetings from Bangladesh.

The parties agreed to pursue deeper cooperation across five strategic pillars:

•     Sustainable Development

Discussions underscored the rising momentum of South Asia, with participants highlighting Bangladesh’s growing strength in manufacturing, innovation and sustainable development. Both sides expressed a shared commitment to translating dialogue into concrete outcomes that connect Switzerland, Europe and Asia.
