Zurich, February 25, 2025 – The Bangladesh Permanent Mission to the United Nations in Geneva visited SwissCham Asia in Zurich this afternoon, engaging in a fruitful and forward-looking discussion on investment opportunities and potential Swiss-Asia collaborations.
The Bangladesh delegation was represented by Mr. Selim Hossen, Commercial Counsellor, and Mr. Rajibul Islam Khan, First Secretary (Commercial), both from the Permanent Mission of Bangladesh to the United Nations, WTO, and other international organisations in Geneva.
From SwissCham Asia, the discussion was led by Dr. Urs Luchtenberger, Patrick Krisemer, and Professor Dr. Ying Zhang.
The meeting centered on exploring investment opportunities across various sectors in Bangladesh, with a particular focus on attracting Swiss and European investors in the sustainability-focused plastic sector, textile sector, leather sector, and agriculture sector. Bangladesh would be interested in handing with SwissCham ASIA to present in the World Economic Forum in Davos and highlight the country’s growing economy and investment potential.
Both parties expressed strong enthusiasm for continued collaboration, with an agreement to organise investment-focused events in 2025 to showcase Bangladesh’s opportunities to Swiss and European businesses. Additionally, discussions covered service industries, education, and healthcare, further strengthening ties between the two regions.
The visit marked an important step in fostering bilateral cooperation between Bangladesh and Switzerland, with both sides committed to deepening their engagement and facilitating impactful initiatives in the near future.
